Dear ACES Parents,
On Friday, December 7th, the ACES students will be taking a field trip to the Gulf Coast EXPLOREUM in Mobile. While there, we will visit the following exhibits: Animation Academy, My BodyWorks, and Scratch Factory. The cost for this field trip is $15 for students and $11 for chaperones/adults. Cost includes admission to the EXPLOREUM and bus transportation for students. I will be collecting money and permission slips for this field trip November 26th through December 6th. All adults attending this field trip must be an approved volunteer for the 2018-2019 school year. Also, adults attending must submit $11 at the time of collection to receive the group discount rate. (General admission for adults is $13.) I hope you will plan to attend this field trip with your child! Please make sure your child is not tardy on December 7th. We will depart Pea Ridge at 7:40 and return at approximately 1:15. Students should wear their ACES t-shirt and bring a lunch and drink. ANIMATION ACADEMY The Animation Academy explores the unique world of animation, from traditional hand-drawn cells to exciting breakthroughs in stop-motion and CGI. Stage Nine Exhibitions proudly welcomes involvement from major US animation studios. Visitors can create their own stop-motion animated short, learn about the art of storyboarding, go behind the scenes with artists and animators, and enjoy America’s largest 3D zoetrope. Each display and interactive activity features the participation of industry leaders, from original hand-drawn cells to real stop-motion maquettes. SCRATCH FACTORY The Exploreum’s original exhibit gallery has more than 50 interactive exhibits. Push, pull and tinker with exhibits dedicated to unraveling the basics of electricity, simple mechanics, magnetism and much more! MY BODYWORKS Flex your muscles, test your reflexes and spring into action in My BodyWorks, the most advanced health gallery in the nation! Presented by Infirmary Health System, My BodyWorks is a fun interactive hall that features more than 50 custom-designed exhibits built for fun! The technology will astound you! From the 12-foot-tall beating heart to augmented reality, science meets fun at every turn. Each exhibit reveals information about anatomy, nutrition or exercise. Learn more about the skin you’re in and how to live life to the fullest with healthy choices. On October 18th, the 4th and 5th grade ACES students will have a unique opportunity to participate in an Orienteering course at Adventures Unlimited. The Orienteering course will teach the students basic map and compass skills. The students will break into teams and use their new knowledge on the orienteering course. Teams will use a map and compass to navigate from flag to flag. The cost for the Orienteering Course and transportation to Adventures Unlimited is $20.50.
I will be collecting money and permission slips for the Adventures Unlimited field trip October 2nd-16th. Thursday, October 19th 5:30-7:30.
